About Me

Ralf Bierig joined the National College of Ireland (NCI) in January 2016 as a lecturer where he teaches data analytics, statistics and research methods. He is the programme director of the newly created Higher Diploma in Science in Fintech that just started in autumn 2016. His research interests range from data analytics and information retrieval, on the one side, to user’s information search behavior, on the other.

He received his BSc (Hons) from the University of Furtwangen (Germany) in Computer Science in 2002 and his PhD from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen (UK) in 2008. He worked as a PostDoc at Rutgers University in the Information and Library Science Department. He gained industrial experience as a senior IT consultant in the automotive industry of South Germany before returning back to academia in 2013. He joined the Vienna University of Technology as a senior post-doctoral researcher where he also lectured in Information Retrieval and Search Systems and gave visiting lectures and seminars in the Czech Republic and in Thailand.
